Irene
Susicki is a 75-year-old woman who was admitted to The Oxford
in September 2006. Irene was transferred to us from a Health
Care Facility in Port Charlotte, Florida. Irene was having problems
with a wound on her heel that was not responding to conventional
treatment, this could mean the possibility of a below the knee
amputation. Having immediate family members in the Haverhill
area, Irene was transferred to The Oxford.
The Oxford, for some time now,
has perfected what is called the "Pulse Lavage" technique.
This is a very unique process and when prescribed can be used
to treat any type of wounds that may develop on the body. It
was invented and perfected by Dr. Marasco MD, a prominent vascular
surgeon in the Merrimack Valley. This process has proven to be
an excellent non-evasive procedure, which promotes the healing
process. Aside from the healing attributes this process will
also cleanse the area and even prevent or reverse any infections
that may have developed in the wound.
We were very pleased to see the
successful recovery Irene had made after extensive, "Pulse
Lavage" treatment. Irene has now returned to Florida to
reunite with her husband.
-- Irene is seen here
with her nursing and rehabilitation staff. --
Good Luck Irene.
The Staff and Residents of The Oxford will miss you.
When
using the phrase, "hard work pays off", Mr. Vadeboncoeur
rises to the occasion.
He was admitted from Lahey Clinic
on December 20, 2005. Mr. Vadeboncoeur had just undergone surgery
and was combatting lack of energy. At the time of his admission,
he was unable to walk and required much assistance with all of
his activity, such as rolling in bed, sitting at the edge of
the bed and all other activities of daily living. He needed assistance
from Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy.
During his stay, which was less
than a month, Mr. Vadeboncoeur worked very hard to regain his
strength. When he left he was able to walk over 100 feet with
very little assistance. With The Oxfords assistance, and
with the love of his wife and wonderful family, who played an
important part of his recovery, he was discharged to home.
We wish Mr. Vadeboncoeur much
success with his continued therapy at home, a good health and
a speedy recovery. We will miss you!
-- Good luck from
the Rehabilitation Department at The Oxford! --
Lorraine Nelson came to The Oxford just six weeks
after her honeymoon! Lorraine was very sick. On admission she
was only able to sit up with much assistance. She required continuous
oxygen and assistance with all facets of activities of daily
living.
Upon discharge, Lorraine was
able to ambulate all over the place without assistance and was
independent with all activities of daily living.
We are very happy to report that
Lorraine could be discharged to home on June 1st to begin her
second honeymoon!! We wish you the best of health!
-- Congratulations
From The Oxford!!! --
What a pleasant surprise the Rehabilitation Department.
got when a former patient, Zena Surprenant dropped by for a visit.
Zena stated, "I came to visit to deliver a promise."
Through her stay at The Oxford last June, Zena told the Rehabilitation
Department. that when she got home and back on her feet she would
return with a batch of homemade cookies. Zena is back to all
her regular activities and is now a Volunteer 2-3x a week for
the "Meals on Wheels" program. She states that she
has been diligent with her exercise program. The Staff at The
Oxford continue to wish Zena well! She left promising to visit
again with another wonderful batch of her delicious cookies!
-- Thank You Zena
